Anyone pick up TM R7 irons or using them i noticed they're on sale for $399, which fits in my budget i was looking at the callaway x18R and x20 at the same price but my shots were ballooned with the uniflex shaft my SS is 85. how is the stiff flex on R7 is it similar to the uniflex? I'm a bogey golfer been playing 2-3 years i still have my first set which are the Nike Slingshot OSS steel Reg flex (good set of clubs the ball just flies too high into the air) and am looking to upgrade

I am in the same boat as you. I am in the market and looking at Cally X18 and X20. Also the R7's (deal right now) or the Adams A3's.

Try them out first. $399 is a good deal for a new set of those R7 irons. Cally X20s and Cleveland CG Golds offer the same feel and performance but make sure you get the proper shafts for you. However, Adams A3 is a much better deal knowing its set comes along with 2 hybrids. The A3 Boxer hybrids are way better compared to the R7's 3i (20*) and 4i (22*).

I bought a set a few months ago. They very forgiving, but the shafts blow. I have a tendency to balloon them, especially the short irons. Gonna reshaft them with Dynamic Gold SL S300 shafts. Hopefully they will knock the trajectory down a bit.

Prior to purchasing the R7's, I had a set of Cally x18's. I did indeed balloon the 18's as well, but not as bad as the R7's. Also, I didnt demo the R7's before I bought them. Had I known they would balloon this much, I wouldnt have dumped the 18's. They are pretty much equally forgiving.

I currently play G10's, my golf game is getting better and I was looking for something that didn't have a wide sole (G10's are very wide). I never have considered the latest TM irons because I think they look terrible. My instructor told me to take a look at the R7's and all I can say is wow, I could not believe how forgiving these clubs were. The feel is great and you can work the ball. I also like the look of the R7 compared to the G10, not a wide sole and a great top line. At a price of $399 you can't go wrong. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I played the R7's for a couple of years. Nice clubs. They are, however, a full club stronger, ie. 44* pitching, 40* 9 iron. With that said, you will never be more likely to hit a 9 iron further.

Very forgiving, the TM stiff shaft is playable, but not as good as a Rifle or DG shaft. At $399, they are a steal, and should be an upgrade from your Nike irons.

I was just about to add that. I've been playing them for about 9 months now. I'm hitting my 9 iron 150+, which I haven't done with any other sets. Usually in the 135-140 range. The other clubs do that same after that, each about 10 yards farther than I normally hit them. I have to keep reminding myself of that when I'm pulling clubs for what have been tried and true distances for me in the past.

Otherwise, I really like them. I do get a high trajectory with the stock shafts, but I actually enjoy that.

Very forgiving.

And I don't think they look half bad at address.
