Finally joined after reading for months

Hello all, i am a 35 yo Attorney born, raised, and still in and around Tampa, Fl. I used to be pretty decent (played to a 6 through college and law school) but i have become a hack over the last years when life caught up and i stopped playing golf and started going out to spend time away from work. My swing suffered horribly from that approach but i have recently found the real fun of golf again and decided to fix my swing and learn to play again.

Problem is..my "old" swing is long forgotten and i am currently attempting to rebuild my swing in spite of the fact that i have some very bad tendencies ingrained from countless hours of playing and practicing a bad swing and even worse swing thoughts that have left me with an incredible over the top swing created by my strange inability to turn my hips and attempt to control the entire swingnwith my arms.

For the first time in my life i have taken a few lessons so i have been diagnosed, and while i understand my problem intimately, i am having a hard time getting the the old swing out of my head! I know it will take time and practicing the correct swing thoughts. So i have been reading on here and have gained a lot of different perspectives which helps so thanks everyone and i look forward to soaking this place in and offering suggestions whenever i can.
