from denver to the philippines

what's happening everyone? i'm 16 going on 17, been playing since about 6. grew up in the mile high city, moved th the philippines when i was 9. dont ask me how, even i dont remember. i like what i've seen so far, glad to be a part of it.

Been to the Philippines many times, the big down lo is that golfing just isn't prevelant there. My wife is Thai and I have membership at a Gary Player course there and golf there is very popular. Welcome back to the states, were you able to play at all in the Philippines?

smallpond: hold your horses there, im still in the philippines hehe. but i am getting to play around here, just a little 9 hole course. youre right about thai golf though, it is absolutely exploding

I know exactly where it is... and have been there My father is from the other half of the island.... from a small town, Bago City, outside of Bacolod. I've driven from Dumaguete across the mountains back to Negros Occidental. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to play golf in that area (Ilo Ilo CC, etc.) but have played plenty of golf in the Philippines with my uncle in and around Manila (Laguna, Tagaytay, etc.) and in Mindanao.

Golf is not very popular among most Filipinos because it's expensive and time consuming and the vast majority of the country simply can't afford to play. The Philippines, however, has become a golfing destination for Asia with many, many Koreans and Japanese heading there during their winter months to play "on the cheap" compared to golf in their home countries. Upper middle class and wealthier Filipinos play plenty of golf on a number of excellent golf courses though.

I eagerly await my next trip back.
