srixon I-701 vs I-701 tour

Given that both are the same price, which one would you choose, the I-701 or I-701 tour? My experience has been limited to the driving range so far, so I'm not very experienced to say the least. It seems that both are getting good reviews, but the only difference is the tour has a slightly smaller head? Does the size difference matter a lot? Thanks!

Firstly I'd like to tell you that they are both great sticks.

The actual difference between them is more than a slightly smaller head. The tour has a smaller filled in cavity as opposed to the non-tours slightly bigger more forgiving hollow one. To look down on, they are really quite similar, just the tour being slightly smaller and with a slightly thinner topline, with fairly similar amounts of offset.

To hit, I'd say the non-tour is quite a bit more forgiving, especially the long irons, with the feel off the face being almost identical and lovely

It just depends how well you strike the ball, and how bothered you are about a slightly smaller head.

In the ideal world (although I couldnt get this done) I would have gone with the non-tours in 3-6 iron and then tours in 7-pw as I feel that the non-tours are almost unneeded in the 7-pw and the smaller head of the tour with less cavity would do better as scoring irons.

But whichever set you buy you wont be disappointed, but dont expect the same forgiveness in the tours especially in the long irons. This DOESNT mean the non-tours are big and ugly, because theyre still beautiful irons.

Oh and make sure you hit them side by side with same shafts etc. so you can get a clear reading! But IMHO a mixed set is the best bet!

I just spent a few hours on a Trackman yesterday with both clubs 9and a few others). I'm a mid-capper, trending down, and working quite a bit on my ball-striking. Slight sweeper of the ball. For ME, the tour's produced better and more consistent numbers in the same shaft. Not what I'd expect at all. I'd say that you probably need to get on a launch monitor to see what works best for you. Both felt pretty good to me and you certainly can't beat the price right now.

Oh and I forgot to say that the tours have a very pretty milled face.

I really dont see why more people don't own them, is it because theyre Srixons? Theyre such great clubs and have been for ages. :S

I got them from Edwin Watts Golf. There was a deal posted on this forum where if you join their Loyaltee program, they have a September special for 299. I had to call them to get the deal though.
