The truth is, he needs to clear those mental demons he has when he gets to majors (he tends to "over prepare / over analyze" the preparation phase) and also stay off any mic put in front of him. This is the best golfer at the moment. IMHO of course. 

 

Nothing better than seeing Rory in full flight.

Oh boy, or girl? Sorry, was overcome with curiosity about the Scheffler baby. 
 

Did Rory go somewhere? Other than not winning a major for years why do you think he was gone? Clearly one of the two best players (insert winner de jour for the other) in golf and has been for some time.

Agree. Tiger warped people's view of greatness for good reason, but he shouldn't be the measuring stick. Compare Rory to the Spieths, JTs, etc. of the world and it is all the more impressive. Yes he hasn't gotten another major yet, but he's consistently been a top player. It'll be tough with Scottie in the mix and the young crop coming up, but I think if he gets another major he'll rattle off another 2-4. 

 

I also have a soft spot for people who grew up a "prodigy" with crazy expectations that actually live up to them (and manage to be a decent person while doing it).

If Rory is putting like he did this weekend there isn't anyone that can beat him, with the possible exception of Scottie. That said, I seriously doubt he putts at the PGA like he did this weekend. It's in his head when it comes to the majors.

I have thoroughly enjoyed his play for most of the last 10 years, majors or no majors.  Seconds last year in the US Open and the year before in the Open Championship were marvelous golf; he just ran into a better putter those weeks.  He is a wondrous golfer.
