Hi all - I took a break from yard work tonight and convinced my 7 year old daughter to take a couple videos smacking balls into the woods:) I have been golfing for over 10 years and have never paid for any sort of instruction... with predictable results. Lots of stagnant play, and scores that not significantly improved. I have shot in the low 80's a couple of times, but usually shoot in the low 90's. I struggle on tight courses, where I seem to get extra hooky (seems to be a bad inside/out move) and take a half dozen penalties a round.

 

Current swing thoughts are trying to pull straight back on my backswing, keeping my right elbow closer to my body, and trying to keep my weight back until after contact. The concept of 'feel is not real' has given me a lot of trouble as I try to play better. It's difficult for me to know where to even start working on things as I watch my swing on video.

10 finger grip?

Yes, interlocked pinkies. I have a tendency to go waaay too far back on my backswing, and interlocking seemed to help me stop going back as far as I was. My right hand was actually coming off my club as I let my arms keep going after my shoulders stopped.

It seems like my left hip isn't moving back, and that correctly initiating that movement will give my upper body a space to turn into. I assume that this is what is causing me to stand up?
