Looking into a GC Membership

I have been looking into joining a GC, I figure a few of y'all are members at various courses around Houston. I would like your input as to the ones y'all have joined or have joined in the past.

I'm looking in the western quadrant of houston, presently a PDP member at Wildcat and I would prefer a more traditional course design.

Concerns are in order:
Cost
Facilities
Location
Members/Atmosphere
Guest Fees
Club tourneys

Pine Forest is a nice track and great club.

Raveneaux is running a special deal right now on initiation.

Don't know how far west you are talking, but Meadowbrook Farms in Katy will soon be undergoing a conversion to a private club (there's an article about it in this month's Houston Links Magazine). Also, depending on what you are willing to spend, there's Westwood GC, BraeBurn CC, Lakeside CC, Willow Fork CC, and a few others.

I joined Kingwood CC last year and upgraded to include membership at the Deerwood Club this year. I've been pretty happy with the decision. I have access to five private courses and two clubhouses for a very affordable initiation fee and reasonable monthly dues.

As a New Jersey native, I do miss the traditional style courses from back home, but your options in Houston are fairly limited from that standpoint. Brae Burn is a great, old-school layout, but it's relatively pricey and they only have one 18. I've played at WestWood and it's also a great, traditional track, but I think they are asking for upwards of $30k to join, and the clubhouse isn't even complete yet. I decided against either for now, because I would rather wait a few years and try to join Champions for that money.

When I was joining Kingwood, I also looked into Northgate and Sweetwater, which are both decent options and relatively affordable.
