help!S@T Swing for me?

I`ve read the write ups in Golf Digest and many views in this forum and decided that I would try this swing.I`m tring to get back to the game from some illnesses and physical problems do to age,etc,so the s@t sounded good because it was stated to be easy on the back.Now GD has a review by some of their"top fifty"teachers that says that its hard on the back and should only be used by young,strong golfers.I would really like to hear from some of you that have used it ,that aren`t young and strong and see how it worked for you.Thanks.

I've tried it at the range, not on the course. No problems with my back (I'm 49 with arthritic knees and a the occasional sore neck and back).

 

Seems like with S&T, there's less lateral motion so less chance of getting out of position in the backswing (leading to compensatory moves on the downswing which in turn might cause some wrenching of the back). But that's just my theory. I would guess that as different people reading the GD article might interpret differently the moves suggested to execute the swing, some risk of injury is there, but that is true of any hacker reading an article and taking the thing to the range and trying to make it work. Go to any range and you'll see a lot of contortions which can't be good for the spine.

 

What would really be helpful is someone to comment who understands biomechanics and could compare the traditoinal weight-shifting swings with the S&T. I think someone like that on the Bennett & Plummer thread did chime in and thought S&T was easier on the back than the modern swings.
