Having problems with my driver!

Just recently i got a new driver, the Taylormade r7 quad 10.5*. I started off hitting pretty good but now i have the problem of always pushing out the ball and it hooking back in, i first thought that maybe i should put the ball further up in my stance yet it didnt help much. Yet whenever it comes off straight it power-draws into the rough, leaving a tough par save. Are there any tips that you guys could provide to me to straighten out my drives??? Anything is appreciated, Thanks!

sounds like a swing path issue to me, though its hard to say anything else without seeing a swing. if it is your swing path (as opposed to having a closed face at impact), then moving the ball in your stance won't really help. unfortunatly, I don't know any drills off the top of my head to help get rid of an inside to out swing path. . .

Revisiting the basics always helps. But it's important that you have someone you trust to take a look at everything before you come to any conclusions. You need to tackle every element of your swing one at a time rather than analyzing each inidividual swing result. Rather than focusing where your ball is going after each swing, you need hit the books/video and ask yourself, am I doing everything right?

Step 1

establish a good grip, address, spine angle have someone you trust to tell you if your square to the target and balanced. This will build the necessary confidence you need over the ball, very key.

Step 2

On your takeway, ask a friend or better yet video tape yourself on a down the line angle and front to see where your swing path is going. These images will reinforce the correct measures you need to take to ensure you create the swing path that you want.

Step 3

From the words of Harvey Penick, take dead aim. It's all about focusing and visualizing exactly where you want your ball to go. Practice obviously reinforces this, but make sure that you know what you want to work on beforeyou practice...just don't hit 1000 balls and try to figure it out after every swing. Have an agenda and work on it...remember, there is never a miracle cure....it takes work and that is why this game is so great.
