NYC/Hoboken - Looking for Practice and Partners

I'm in Hoboken these days and trying to find the closest course with a decent range and practice facility. I usually make the journey out to play Bethpage on the weekends and occasionally head up to Westchester.

Anybody have recommendations for a good practice facility that is within an hour drive or reachable via public transit?

Also, I'm always up for a weekend round, currently a 10 handicap. Let me know!

There are no ranges within public transportation in Westchester, but if you want to take an uber from white plains (Metro North), it's only a few miles away. Game on Golf (http://gameongolfcenter.com). They have a grass area too, not that it's tee box grass but grass. It's under new management so it's gotten better. You hit into open field, it's wide open grass.

Besides that, there is a range somewhere in fort lee, (http://21golfrange.com), I don't like it, it's like hitting into a bowling lane, it's like 100 yards wide. automated tees etc... been there once, to meet a friend, but wouldn't go back as The range by me is 10 mins away.

If you ever want to get a round in Westchester or Putnam, hit me up, and can see if our time frames match, I play every weekend, sometimes twice, on time off everyday lol. I'm in white plains, right next to the train station and I drive. I play everywhere. I play alot at Maple Moor, Mohansic, but play all the public course around here within an hour or so. When I have time off, I hit up Bethpage, Trump ferry point. Centennial in Carmel is prob the nicest cheapest public courses around here, that's in Putnam though, as well as The links at Unionvale, which is nice too.

I also reco Crystal resorts, In Hamburg, NJ. They have some really nice courses, Wild Turkey and Ballyowen specifically.

From Hoboken, check out Galloping Hill for practice. Without traffic it's about 15 minutes once you get onto 139 or 78. They have a pretty good range (not grass though I don't think?), a few different short game greens, a 9-hole executive short course and an 18-hole course that some people like, some not so much.

For courses, most of the public options within an hour are not great, unfortunately. Once you get out I-78 a ways there are a few good ones - Fox Hollow isn't bad, High Bridge Hills is usually pretty good. Check out Royce Brook, too. Not close but a good practice area and the public-accessible course is pretty good. Haven't been to Neshanic Valley yet but everyone regards that as the best public course in the area. That shows as being almost exactly 1 hr from Hoboken.

I'm in Summit - about 25 minutes west of Hoboken on I-78. Actually just moved last year after living in Hoboken for 6 years. Also somewhere in the 10-13 hdcp range. Let me know if you want to meet up for a round sometime.
