rifle 5.0? shaft any good?

what up guys.......what's your take on the rifle 5.0 shaft.......coming with the '04 pro combos.....new and i beleive that was one of the option for a shaft for that year..........shaft any good........what other shaft did this set come with oem........

I have no idea what the other shaft options for the pro combo's were... but to me personally the rifle 5.0 is a great shaft! It plays smooth and is inbetween a stiff and regular just what I need. I love them feel better then the Apex 4's in my old irons.

i've given you my thoughts on the rifle 5.0 shafts. to follow up, rifles were a oem option on the 04 pro combos as well as the nike speed step (light weight steel shafts).

The absolute best... try rifle flighted as well.. a lttle lower ball flight, and what a feel. I've played them since '97...

I've always played RP Rifles since it took up golf and must say that when I demo clubs with dynamic golds, they feel terrible. The 5.0's are excellent shafts and you can really get all shot shapes and trajectories out of them.

i play tour flighted rifle 6.0 and love them, I would never go back to dynamic gold s300. Rifle feel crisper and have a higher trajectory.

For indication, I play TFR 6.0 and my ss with my 5 iron is about 100mph.

I don't know about the Pro Combos, but I have 5.0 Rifles in my Rac LTs and love 'em. My previous favorite shaft was DGR300, but the Rifles feel much smoother and I like the higher launch. Also recently played JZ-S shafts in a set of Ping Blades, but my next Pings will have 5.0 Rifles. For reference, I play off 14 and use an 8 iron from 150 yards. I can handle stiffer shafts, but prefer a softer feel.

I feel the opposite of the other responders here. I too play TM Rac LT's. I did not like the ball flight of the Rifles. I tend to hit a high trajectory and much prefer the dynamic golds because it helps to lower my ballflight and I think the feel is crisp. I really like the DG's! They aren't the gold standard in steel shafts for nothing! It's best to demo the shafts to see which one is better for your game. :)

I had 5.0 Rifles in my old Pro IIs and 6.0 in my MP32s. I went with the 6.0 on the basis of a 85 SS with a 5 iron after playing several years with the 5.0.

Rifle shafts seem to have a softer feel and provide more feedback regarding where the clubhead struck the ball than other shafts I played. I agree with cjdrcc that it is tough to judge irons at demo days since the majority are shafted with DG S300 and they feel very harsh in comparison. While the number 1 criteria is performance and I am going to use a shaft that allows me to play my best, I also think the clean lines of the stepless shafts make for an awesome looking club.

For flex comparison the Rifle web site lists 4.5-R, 5.0-R+, 5.5-S, 6.0-S+

Just bought a set of TM 300 Forged's with Rifle 5.0 Flighted.

I'm wondering if these will flex enough with my mid 70's 5 iron SS. Initially, I thought it would be fine, but after researching now and finding this topic... I'm not sure. I got these specifically because I really love the PX 5.0s, and thought the Rifle's would play similarly (and they were a steal at 170 with shipping ).

I could be wrong but I'm almost positive that the rifle 5.0 will have a little more flex than the px5.0. But being flighted they will play like px's.
