Hudson Made Blank Putter Head

I have looked all over for blank putter heads to finish up and game. Reached out to Hudson Made on Instagram and found exactly what I was looking for. He currently has two head shapes, I went with the blade style, he also has an anser 2 style. I was then able to choose head material (stainless or carbon), head weight, loft, lie, and toe hang. After about two weeks he sent me an update picture after what must have been the first pass of milling and then again after the face was milled and the neck welded on. It was shipped out quickly after, all in all it was about three weeks between first contact and putter in hand.

 

Just got it in hand today and it is stunning. This putter head came straight off the mill with no additional shaping so he told me that it would need some sanding to finish the shaping but honestly it looks really good! There are some sharp edges around the toe and the heel but 10/10 could game it in this condition.

 

Head weight is currently at 350g grams, right where I told him, which leaves me a little room to remove some weight to get it down to where I want it. Over the last couple months I've realized I am much more comfortable over the ball at 36.5" which means a little lighter head weight, so goal is going to be around 330-340g. I've thought about trying my hand at a bullet sole but have failed to find any good instruction on how to do that, if anyone has experience I would love to hear it!

 

There currently is no finish on the raw carbon and I'm planning on leaving it this way to match my raw MP-18's. I will still need to sand and grind it down a fair bit but really excited to put some elbow grease into it. 

 

Overall super happy with how the putter looks! Head shape looks great, and I'm super excited to finish it out!

Normally, you’d cut a bullet sole with a ball nose end mill on the milling machine. I suspect that won’t be much help to you but I don’t think there’s a way you’ll really be able to cut it with a mill

Thanks for the response. Although it wasn't quite what I wanted to hear I figured I was probably out of my depth with a bullet sole. I'm new to any club working/shaping so I'm trying to learn what I can. I was hoping a take as much as I could with a dremel and then clean it up with some hand sanding but I might just have to be satisfied with a higher head weight after softening some of the edges.

I suspect a round file would produce better results but trying to keep it straight while filing will be a challenge, especially with the radius of the sole

 

there are people around who could cut one for you on a mill tho, it’s not a particular hard thing to mill (I’d offer to help if you were in Australia)

Okay, I'm thinking I might pick up a test putter or two from a thrift shop or cheap on eBay so I can try a couple different things and see what works. Trying to do it myself but I might end up having to go somewhere else

Found an old tp mills head on ebay for cheap and tried my best

 

Should have taken a little more time drawing out where the centerline was but overall seemed to work fairly well

 

Angle grinder seemed to make the cleanest lines, the bench grinder worked, but was difficult to make precise moves where I wanted to.

 

Hoping to find a couple more heads to try this out on before working on the final product but I'm really happy with the first attempt.
