Bowed Wrist

Anyone do manipulations of the lead arm wrist a la DJ/Morikawa/etc.? Trying to not be as steep both on takeaway and downswing and wondering if messing with the wrist angle is something i want to get into. Feels like it's maybe a long term thing and I'd have to really commit to it?

Kinda sorta. My issue was a very cupped left wrist at the top of a too-long backswing, leading to all kinds of contact issues, usually high right wipes.  Monte has helped me a ton to get my left wrist be flat or even a bit bowed.    One factor that comes into play for me here is I have arthritis in both thumbs. Tried the surgery, did not do any good. Am learning to just deal with the constant pain.

 

But the big thing that helped me here was fixing my grip believe it or not. Monte had me move my right thumb to the right of the grip so it's literally touching my right forefinger. After I told him it felt weird.... and ducked from his nine iron that was aimed at my head!..... that move has allowed my hands and wrists to work better. And shorter backswing helping a lot too.

 

I've been hitting it better than ever. Driver, irons, everything.  Really fun.

Interesting. I do believe everything I've seen speaks about the cupped left wrist matching up with a stronger grip and if I'm not mistaken that's a stronger right hand grip. I have the opposite problem I've got poor mobility so I'm trying to lengthen the backswing, but with trunk rotation and shoulder turn. I think flat left wrist is maybe the best way to think of it as opposed to bowed, and over time if that feel leads to a bowed wrist I can always back off of it. But truly bowed wrist feel makes me have no idea how to release the club at the bottom it's so so different.
