Who reads Japanese
Can someone who reads Japanese PLEASE tell me what this stuff means ...

Go to www.Axiv.jp, then product, then Driver and Fairway wood, then on the bottom right go to Specs..

They have 5060H in bold detailing what it means but I don't understand it, can someone PLEASE translate that for me.

i can't read japanese. but this is what it means.

50 = weight in grams

60 = flex

H = ball flight

they have a shaft selector, click on bang on matrix on the main page. you chose your ss, tempo, desired ball flight and then desired weight and it will give you a recommendation.

... correct, except i believe that the 'h' is for high kick, i.e. lower ball flight. axiv has a huge selection of shafts and i'm guessing this is (maybe) one of their newest.

from what i garner (and i have not hit one of these) ... 5060h would be a 50 gram shaft with what they denote as a 60 flex (in their case, i believe the 60 is an 'sr' flex, very soft stiff at most), with high kickpoint (they seem to have 'l', 'm' 'h' in just about every make-up).

mike is right. h is for kickpoint not ballflight. sorry for the confusion.

This is puzzling, when I get fitted for the shaft and tell them I want high launch / ball flight the website sends me to a "H" shaft. It seems that Axiv is sending me to a very stiff shaft for my swingspeed. If I select 46 m/s the shaft I get is 291 cpm. Pretty stout.

... reverse the selection you've been choosing for the trajectory ... if you want high flight, it should pick the 'L' version for you. forget the cpm readings ... those aren't going to give you what you want (in both this case and generally-speaking as well).

when i did the selection, i went with the equivalent of 110-115 ss (it was a low 50's reading), medium tempo, 75 gram and low flight. it came back with 7572H, which is what I would have picked off the cuff. I don't think there's a ton of science here ... just a standard matrix with three variables (speed, tempo, flight).

i know ari (fairwayfred) has used these shafts ... and he knows shafts well, having used many over his relatively young life. he has the 6564M, which he characterizes as a comfortable mid-range stiff flex ... whatever that might mean. i believe ari is about a 105 swinger with a medium tempo and flight. i would gauge off that ... 60 version is 'sr', 64 is 's', 68 is strong 's' or probably 'sx', 72 is soft 'x', 76 is strong 'x'.

just my opinion, but if you're trying to compare a butt cpm reading to a favorite shaft reading you currently have ... you're wasting your time. it's like saying a dg s-300 is equivalent to a rifle 5.8 ... it's not, no way no how.

I translated it on one of those search engines:

And in consideration for your round the body fruit loop swing, the gargantuan cranium style will always hesitate to disembowel when one show proper respect and admiration. You will enjoy the countryside repeatedly through shorter grass, but without the knowledge of man who keeps the color of green. Rock and Roll sunshine super-duper golfer man enjoys it all day until dusk.
