New MaxFli A10 FW Woods-any reviews?

Dick's has an incredible deal!

I was checking out the Sunday ad for Dick's Sporting Goods, and they're having their annual "Golf-a-thon" sale.

This offer caught my eye: If you buy any Maxfli driver, FW wood, or hybrid, you get TWO free. Basically, if I replace my out-of-date 3W, I get a new 5W and a hybrid for free. Usually when an offers sounds to good to be true, it is.

Anyone know if the new MaxFli A10 woods are any good? The woods & Driver feature tungsten weights just like my MacTec (which I won't be replacing). I know Jonh Daly just signed with Maxfli, and I believe he's using this equipment. This deal might just be worth the risk!

Saw them today. Nice shape to them. However, I would not buy them.

I saw them also but I cannot find any specs or even a mention on the Maxfli - Taylormade website.

Well, I couldn't help myself, I just had to take advantage of this deal. I bought a 3W for $159 and got a 5W and hybrid 4I for free. I hit the 3W and it is definitely better than the crappy 3W that came with the set I bought back in 1995! All the clubs have titanium heads, tungsten weights in the heel, and a nice red Harrison Striper shaft that is iridescent. It changes colors in different light.

 

I figured, even if the woods are cheap, they're better than the old set I'm playing now, and I can use them for a season and dump them. After buying new Irons, a new MacTec Driver, new bag, and new push cart all in the past 7 months, I need to budget myself and wait to get more expensive woods.

 

I'll let everyone know how they play.

They are listed on ebay for about $120/club. Why buy those if you can get much better fairway woods (V-Steel) for $120 retail???

'cause I needed something cheap, and got three clubs for $159. If they suck, I'll just replace them next year. I have a buddy who's going golfing with me in March for the first time. I suspect he'll be addicted, and I can sell him my old stuff (old! I bought it all this year!) cheap and buy some sweet MacGregor irons!

 

Oh, yeah, I also had $110 in Dick's gift cards, so I essentially got three clubs I needed for $50. ;)

I saw them and a ton of other Maxfli stuff at Dicks today and I admit they do look nice and 3 clubs for $160, well that is cheap. But you get what you pay for, usually, so who knows how good of a deal that will turn out to be. But I am pulling for you and I am sure the least expensive 3 wood out there today will put your 1995 one to shame. And the important part is whether or not you enjoy it, and it sounds like you do.

 

On a related note, Dicks did seem to have quite a few good deals on balls in the $16 to $25 dollar range, so I may have to head back there. Other than balls though I didn't see anything cheap.

Well, apart from the fact that no-one here have actually played these Maxfli's - they could be OK - that Toyota / Lexus picture is spot on.... ;)

The truth is that maxfli makes fine clubs. I have the crossbax 3&4 hybrids with the vs proto shafts and they are as good as anything anyone makes. If you look around a bit you would see that maxfli makes some very interesting clubs in austrailia.

I took advantage of this type of deal about 4 years ago, when Maxfli was being made by TaylorMade/Adidas. The clubs were called A10 Transfer System, and have served me well. They also had the Harrison shaft. I still play the three wood, it works great for me, get about 235+ carry off the deck. The driver was great too, but I dinged the toe taking practice swings in my back yard and it never played well after that. (could have been mental...)

 

They hybrid was in my bag until yesterday, when a buddy of mine gave me a TaylorMade rescue mid to try out. I replaced the Driver with an R7 quad.

 

Short answer: If you hit the clubs at Dicks and they felt good, why not give them a shot? Mine worked great for multiple seasons, and I still use the three wood.
