Ogio Anomaly Cart Bag Review

Recommended Posts

Thoughts on Ogio's new bag
After reading some of the excellent reviews written on the Ogio Nexos and Syncro bags, I thought I'd share my opinions on the new Anomaly cart bag. First, I'd like to say that this is my third Ogio bag and first cart bag. I was able to get the bag for just under $178 after coupons and taxes, which is more than what I paid for my other two Ogios combined. I ride 90% of the time and I was tired of having to readjust my stand bag after every hole. Thus, I decided to take the plunge and get a cart bag.

Pros
  • 15-way Uniter top with full length club dividers is way more convenient than the Woode top. I love the Woode, but the Uniter just makes life on the course a whole lot easier.
  • The Hoode clamshell rain hood is the greatest golf bag invention ever made. I would probably appreciate it more if I lived in Seattle, though.
  • The flip up pockets are great since it provides easier access to the accessory pockets during a round. Prior to owning this bag, I would have to to remove the cart strap to grab my wallet or phone.
  • There are 13 total pockets, which is more than I know what to do with.
  • This is my first Ogio with a zipperless ball pocket, and I must say that it's very nice to have. Since my golf balls like to swim, I find myself using the ZBP quite often.
  • The color scheme is very appealing. Ogio always makes great-looking bags.

Cons

  • My putter (with the headcover on) has trouble finding room in the Uniter top. Don't get me wrong, I love the top compared to the Woode, but I just wish it had more space for my putter. Maybe they can reduce the number of dividers from 15 to 14 to make extra room or they could include an external putter holder. Just a thought.
  • I like to drink a lot of fun juice while I play golf, so I was excited about the dual insulated pockets. However, to my dismay, I found out that there were in fact two pockets, but only one was insulated. Warm fun juice is no fun at all.
  • The bag is kind of like the Frankenstein of Ogio bags with the best features supposedly incorporated into the bag. However, there were some noticeable things missing, such as the TORQ strap (for added security while riding), the ball silo, the cigar caddy and divot tool accessory kit, and the single shoulder strap that transforms into a dual strap (like on the Ozone CC bag). I also wish there were more color options, since I'm really digging the pinstripe and copper check designs found on the '09 Grom.

Final Thoughts
For the money, I was expecting a little more. I'm debating on whether I should keep the bag despite it's (very few) drawbacks or return it and get an Exodus instead. I'm still on the fence about this one.

I have the exodus and have to say it is the best cart bag I have had. All the accessories, ZBP, dual insulated pockets for drinks and the divider system suits me very well. The putter well I think is big enough for any putter that I have had.

This bag looks pretty cool but that sucks that they didn't add the divot tool, cigar caddy, etc

thanx for the review....very helpful!

I'm looking for some feedback on the Ogio Anomaly vs. Ogio Exodus....please consider:

1) club organization: Uniter vs Wedge ....I'm a little concerned about the Exodus' Wedge system; it seems strange with the section designed for short-irons located next to the section designed for the woods

2) weight & fit on a push cart (Clicgear 2.0)

3) price....the 2008 Exodus can be had for a steal on various web sites like TGW.com ....but I can't find the Anomaly for less than $299....

I'm seriously considering these two bags; please help this cat who's sitting on the fence

Sorry, what model stand bag is that in the pictures?

That is the Ogio Flight SS with the Schling strap. I picked it up at Marshalls for $39.99 a year ago.

As for the Anomaly, I still think it is overpriced for its features, but I do like it a lot. I love the Uniter top and found that there was plenty of room for the putter in the back slot. Also, the flip-up pockets are great whenever I need to quickly access my wallet. However, I've found that the plastic exo frame does not hold up well and scratches very easily. I'm confident that the plastic will look like Seal's face in about a year. Bottom line - I would recommend this bag to anyone who is willing to wait for it to drop in price. If you need a cart bag now, I would go with the Exodus.
