GolfLogix for Motorola Droid

Anyone Used it Yet?

I downloaded the GolfLogix application on my Droid yesterday. Unfortunately, i have not yet been able to try it since we are still covered up with snow here. Has anyone out there had the chance to try it out? If so, what do you think of it?

No completely related, but I love it on my Storm 2. Should perform relatively similar I would guess.

You probably won't find it as an "app". I think you need to download it or send it to your phone from their website.

OP if it's as good as the version my buddy has on his Blackberry it will be awesome. It looks better than most stand alone Golf GPS screens imo. Plus the ones available in the app store seem quite limited. They all do something cool, but none of them seem to have all the functionality the Logix has.

I dont know if anyone knows this answer and i apologize for the semi-thread jack but I have the droid eris for Verizon from HTC. Anyone know if it works on this phone? Or Does it require Google maps and then will work when the Eris gets the 2.0 android update? Anyone know what I'm talking about? LOL

My understanding is that it was written for Android 2.0. I'm not an expert on the issue, but if you post your question on the GolfLogix site under support they will answer it.

I am just waiting for a warm day to go try it out!

You need to check with Verizon. I believe their GPS is locked somehow. I saw a work around somewhere, and I'll try to find it. Verizon is the only company that locks their GPS for some reason.

My carrier is Verizon and the GPS works fine on my Droid for other apps. I have not tested GolfLogix yet, but will post in this thread as soon as I have.

I have always heard that Verizon blocked GPS, but maybe they are taking a different approach with the Droid.

I think maybe they did, or the work-around was incorporated in the new apps. I have Sprint, so it's not really something I know a lot about, just something I read when I was looking for a GPS for my Crackberry. I towuld be a good idea to chck with them thoug before you go spending the 35 bucks or whatever it is, because I read that some people were a little miffed that they couldn't get their Verizons to work with it.

Verizon has changed their GPS policy (at least on some phones and apps). My Storm 2 works great with Golflogix. Side note, even Google maps is able to use the GPS now instead of just cell tower. All my weather apps are able to use GPS fix along with cell tower location. Not saying this is across the board for every phone, but at least some.

As a droid owner i would imagine you will need some extra batteries lol. Id bet my life you wouldnt get through 18 holes on a full charged droid.
