can't love the guy

I hate Monty. The crowd were behind him all day long, but no appreciation to the crowd at the 18th hole. At least tip the hat or something for all the support hes got. The guy has no class...

The guy is totally classless.

Monty classless? I don't think so, the NY fans were sometimes very rude to him and showing unsportsmanlike conduct. Like the jerk, after Monty hit an iron shot to the green, yelling, "Get in the trap!" I wouldn't exactly call that class. When it was all said and done, Colin was a gracious loser, he gave the NY crowd a very big thank you, "It was great, you know, to be non-American coming over here and to have that support." He managed to show honest humility in the way he played or rather not played on the final hole, giving praise to Ogilvy and his win. Not blaming anyone but himself.

That is class, my friend.

I agree his interview afterwards was hilarious and he took it on the chin paying respect to the crowd but I get the feeling he would have been crying into his beer later on

Also the crowd were very biased and without class I noticed a few mistimed shouts at Kenny Ferrie and Monty as they were swinging.....Disgraceful

Good posts guys.

We're all entitled to our opinion on those in the spotlight (and we all give them, just look at a previous thread regarding Phil Mickelson) but Colin Montgomerie has more class than most of the golfers out there.

He took time to thank the New York crowd on Sunday and the majority were fantastic however there's always a select few class golf fans who decide to express their negative opinions.

I can only imagine the uproar if the same were to happen in the British open and it would be interesting to see how Tiger, Phil etc would respond.

I am not a big Monty fan, but the guy does usually stand up and take it on the chin.

He doesn't affect the aw shucks, man of the people image that Phil Mick has cultivated, and which I find just a bit phoney. I don't think I'm alone there.
