Leupold GX-4 Rangefinder

Anyone use the Leupold GX-4 rangefinder? Specifically, I'd like to know if the yardage for slope it adds or subtracts is accurate?

It seems accurate to me insofar as I hit the club for that distance and if I swing well I find myself where I would expect to be. It has helped me shave off several strokes a round on some of my regular courses with tricky elevation changes.

I have heard that since you can completely remove the yellow slope tool, this product is legal for tournament play. Is this correct, or did I run into an eager salesman?

As of last week when I checked into this for someone the device is equipped with slope feature and although the faceplate can be removed or covered up or whatever the device itself still has slope and is therefore illegal. The USGA made no exception for such devices yet although both they and Leupold concur that they are looking into the issue to possibly get them approved for usage. However no news yet.

I have the GX-4. It is an outstanding unit. As for the slope. I find uphill it is dead on, and only on extreme downhill does it seem just a tiny bit off. I usually play just a couple yards longer than the adjusted distance on downhill, maybe half club or so.
