HSBC Match Play - I was there!

Round 2

All I can say is what a great time I had today. The course was in fantastic condition, very green and lush (we've had a lot of rain recently in NJ). They don't publicize this tournement a lot since the club can't handle huge crowds...more room for me to get right up to the ropes!
They had a great field, we saw all of the top players both on the practice range and on the course.
Michelle Wie hit a couple of driver shots on the range, they all dropped over the 250 yd mark. Saw her play one of the par 5's (550 yards) and hit driver/3 wood to get on the green in 2. She was playing Christina Kim, who really bombed the ball, too. :cheesy: On one hole she went into the bunker which was so deep I couldn't see her (I was standing greenside) and next thing you see is a ball floating out and landing 3 feet from the hole. Too cool.
Michelle had 4 State Troopers following her around, Annika had 2. We talked to a couple of the Troopers who were working at the course and they didn't even play golf, how weird must it be for them!
Most of the matches were fairly close. The players mostly looked relaxed and you could hear them talking to each other, I guess it gets more intense later.
It was a great event to attend, if it comes to you next year, I really recommend it. HSBC did a first-rate job with the hospitality, the Guest Village had all kinds of interactive games (mini golf, golf simulator, free lessons from Pro's) and gave away a fair amt of merchandise (I came away with a shirt and 3 caps).
