New Golfer In/From Aberdeen, Scotland

I am in/from Aberdeen Scotland and am only just getting back into golf having not played in around 20 years.

 

I am thirty five tomorrow (20^th February 2013) and stopped playing when I left school a few months before my sixteenth birthday. When I was at school I used to play golf a lot with my dad and class mates but then kind of fell away from it.

 

I now have two kids of my own (Girl 11, Boy 7 and third & final one on the way too) and got a hold of some second hand clubs for both of them and I, after having them down to the local club for the last two Sundays along with being at the driving range twice (its round corner from my work so nip round at dinner time) I have officially caught the golf bug.

 

I do realise that my clubs are not the greatest but I figured at the present moment that doesn’t really matter.

 

Even though I wasn’t playing I have always still watched the golf, keeping particular close eye on the Scottish guys and local heroes like Paul Lawrie and David Law along with cheering on Europe in the Ryder Cup (sorry Americans).

 

Anyhow I am looking forward to my journey back into golf and also being an active member of the forum.

 

Have no idea if anyone else from Aberdeen is on the forum but I have lurked for a few days before joining and did notice some Scottish.

 

My daughter is really enjoying it even though she can’t get a hang of the grip and my son suffers from autism so spent more time throwing the ball than hitting it but I put that down to him being seven and not his disability.

 

Sorry I tend to waffle on sometimes when I speak so I will wrap this up by saying hope to see you around the forum and expect some noob questions.

I'm from Prestwick but my family and I will be relocating to the Aberdeenshire area in the Summer, so guess its possible that we could bump into eachother sometime. Do you go to Kings Links?

Yeah its the Kings Links driving range i am trying to get to once a week as i work round in the business centre in Bridge of Don.

My local course is Nigg Bay as i stay in Cove.

Ah right. We haven't decided as yet as to where we will be living. We may go down as far as Montrose or as far North as Fraserburgh, and anywhere in between, but fortunately for me, anywhere up that coast obviously has a plethora of wonderful Golf Courses, so I'm not sure which one I will be joining as yet.
