Selling Upro - do courses go too?

Recommended Posts

I send an email to Upro CS, but figured someone might have done this already. If I sell my Upro, does the buyer also get my courses, etc when I transfer the unit? Or do they have to start from scratch with 0 courses?

good question as i am in the market for a upro.

btw, what didnt you like about the upro? Not sure if I should wait to get the touchscreen one.

Overall I think it is a great unit. Two things mainly irked me, the battery life, and the smallish screen size. I am not fond of touch screens myself... I tried the garmin and it just seemed hard to put the marker right where you wanted. Of course it may just be my short stubby fingers LOL.

I bought my Upro previously owned, and it had all the courses, that the original owner had put on it. All the credits he had bought came with it as well. When you sell your Upro to someone, you are basically selling the account along with the unit. When I bought mine, the previous owner just gave me the user name and password to his account, then I just
changed the account into my name.......it's pretty simple.

Remember that the user must allow you to basically takeover the existing account. That normally shouldn't be a problem, but some people don't want others to have account/account history type info.

I would have no problem selling mine since I've never added anything to the account.

I'm not happy that the uProGo gets full course access with illustration images for $49 while C-way's still trying to get original uPro owners to get mugged by the more expensive ProMode costs. C-way should make all the images available for a one-time cost of $69 or less. They don't have to worry about people running off with courses because it takes a bit of time to load/replace the 50 courses the uPro holds at any given time.

[/quote]I got a "refurbished" upro in December. It was DOA and Cally asked me to send it in. It took a month to get a replacement and it was DOA also. I sent it back and now they are backordered. It is now two months later and I still don't have a replacement. I think production of the upro is about finished and they are phasing it out with the MX coming out soon.

They will move on from the original uPro. The software and memory limitations are too much to overcome. That said, the best business move would be to revise/lower the ProMode course cost across the board. Otherwise, people will start dumping uPros for the newer units and C-way will have to deal with another set of "new" customers on the old units. It would be much simpler to just create the incentive for existing customers to buy courses if they already haven't.

But I bet that's not what they're thinking. If they think uPro owners will just trade up to another unit, they're not aware of the number of options available, including acceptable smartphone apps for a fraction of the cost without having to deal with the course issue.

Seriously, C-way doesn't realize for the cost of just a few ProMode courses, I can get almost any course on my smartphone golf app for less. And I don't have to worry about a faulty device. The GPS accuracy is within 1-3 yards of my uPro (it always has been). I don't like using my phone as my golf gps, but I will.
