If so, what is a good brand of gauge that is accurate?

is it possible to buy a guage to check loft & lie accuaratly? I think the machines to bend the irons are maybe a little more than I can spend, so I was figuring I would just let the hacks at golf galaxy do them, but I want to be able to check their work, those guys never do anything right.

sorry, have not found or heard of a good way outside of a loft/lie machine.

find someone you can trust and that will not damage your clubs.

try some smaller shops, look online for a club fitter, you should not settle for golf galaxy if you can't trust them. before you do that, send them to someone reputable via ups or something...

There are several golf club guages available from companies like GolfWorks and Golfsmith that will run you several hundred dollars and allow you to measure club specs accurately.

 

The problem is you have to get the clubhead mounted in the correct position - which means clamping the shaft and being able to manipulate it and measure the interesting variables.

 

To get within 3/4 of a degree is pretty easy. To get within 1/4 of a degree takes a serious investment in hardware and training. We use a $3500 machine for measurements where accuracy is important - and not everyone can even use it, as training is required for repeatable results.
