Course close to Lancaster OHIO

Hi there, Golfwrx. I haven't been online to much in the last few months. I have been working on a huge house about 12 miles out in the country from Lancaster Ohio. I am off Lithopolis Road. I have been up here from the south since the first of December. All it has done is snow. I have this phone book with 174 course listed in it, public and private.

 

First and foremost for the next 6 warm days here in Ohio, I want to hit some golf balls. Where would be the best place to do so, without driving an hour to hit balls. I have talked to two local people and one of them is an older man that wants to play an executive course not to far from where I am living. Another wants to play at a Jaycee course in Ross county, which is about 35 min drive from me.

 

I am used to playing in the neighborhood from 6500 yards up to about 7000 at the max. I see that the yardage listed on a lot of the public course is 6200 and even less.

 

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks Justaman5

I would try either Pine Hill or Valley View golf course in that area. Those are the only 2 courses that aren't that far away from Lancaster that are pretty decent. If I remember there are quite a few of blind shots on those courses so try to find play with someone who has played there unless you have a gps device that shows the entire hole.

Ok thanks, one of those is on the other side of Lancaster. The other is at the northern end of the county. I live about 18 miles from the Mcdonalds there on 33. I made the mistake of buying fast food one time, and it was cold before I got home. Do you have any recommendations to the south. I live not far from Amanda Northern Road.

Around there I don't. I haven't played any other course that's close to there. You might try to post this in the ohio forum in the Midwest section to see if it gets more views.

Lancaster CC is right off 33 (or 22) on Hamburg. It is fantastic Donald Ross deisgn with great greens. Not sure about what their situation is membership wise (was semi-private a few years ago).
