How are they decided?

Why is Tiger in the final group instead of Justin Rose?
Is the previous day's score the determinant? Position at the start of the day? Or is it like everything else and the tourney officials (and probably TV) know that it's more exciting to have Tiger in the final group?

well the leaderboard and how the network displays it ..is up to them.

 

But the pairing are pretty much standard...first in the clubhouse goes out last

I'm sure Appleby would rather play with Rose.

On TV they said Appleby has won 4 of the 5 times he has lead going into the final round but Brett Wetterich is the only guy I'm aware of that has been paired with Tiger on Sunday that didn't lay an egg.

I mentioned that in a post that I ended up editing.

You see effect all the time when 5 guys are -4 and Tiger makes a birdie to go to -4 and his name goes straight to the top of the -4s.

I understand the ratings and such but it would be nice if someone in the media had a sense of equity. I'm indifferent about Tiger. I don't love him and I don't hate him. I really admire the emphasis he puts on his foundation. But I'll be pulling for Appleby tomorrow.

99% of the time, if Woods is tied for the lead, his name is at the bottom of that group. Most channels do the leaderboard by score and then last name, which you mostly always find Woods last.

Im not so sure about that i saw him friday on USA he was at the top of everyone 2 or 3 over and today on CBS he was at the top of the people 1 over.

I noticed the same thing.

Belote, that is what I meant by the media showing some "equity". I wish there was some rhyme or reason to how they do such things. Alphabetically, low score of the day, first in the clubhouse. Whatever, I just wish they would stick with the same rule for everyone.

It reminds me of the star treatment certain NBA players get or Barry Bonds getting a smaller strike zone than anyone else.

Maybe. But I bet it was one of the few times (if not the only time) someone shot better than Tiger in a final group on Sunday. Wetterich didn't win but at least he didn't wilt like so many have before.
