New Driver Surpise

Am somehow now an "old guy", at 63. I was fitted last year for a Big Bertha 10. 5 (set at normal) with a Kuro Kage shaft. I hit it the ball well and found lots of fairways, but never really liked how the club set. I also felt like distance was less than possible. Went for a fitting today (Foresight Launch Monitor, simulator) to try Callaway V series. Pro also had me hit the new Taylormade Aeroburner and Callaway XR. I hit all clubs well, but very surprisingly (to me) the Aeroburner was more consistent and longer. I carried the Aero burner around 225-230. The longest of the day was V at about 256 carry, but it was one time. I never have liked the white head color, but I did like how the club and face set and I surely got through each swing better with the TM.There is a "fin" on the hosel and it is non adjustable, but that is OK, looking for results. The stock Matrix Speed Rul Z50 Stiff was the best performer and spun less than the regular. I was willing to change out the shaft, if needed, but the numbers fit with stock.

 

I also hit the Callaway V, Callaway XR and Aeroburner 3 wood (had been playing Adams Tight Lies 15) and walked away with the Callaway V.V was longer and more solid for me. The Bassara 52 stock shaft also worked in the 3 wood, as as again I assumed he would go to a different shaft as we had in last years fitting.

 

Am glad that Technology really does help and am looking forward to playing outside on the course!

A lot has to do with long shafts not real advances in drivers cuz they are maxed out
