Info on japenese Tanaka clubs needed.

im new to the forum as have been told this is the best forum to post my question.

 

I have x2 Tanaka woods ( a 3 and 5) and a handmade Scottish putter.

 

I cant find anything about the woods ( pictures to follow)

 

first of all does anyone recognise the brand?

 

They look to have been regripped and although the heads are wood ( with brass?) The shafts look to be composite with twine wound round the end..

 

I can't find anything about these clubs.. other than they are very very difficult to drive straight lol.

Does anyone know anythig about these clubs? as i said i cannot find any infomation out about them at all.

I did a search earlier in Japanese, didn't find anything. There's a course, a few players named Tanaka that clogs up all the results in google.

By the photos, it looks like 70's / 80's fonts used in the labels. And, graphite is later vs. earlier.
Compare them to Mizuno, Bridgestone, Honma and Daiwa woods with graphite.

I don't see anything to indicate these are department store models - but that might be on the top or on the shafts or grips.

Thanks for that. Im truly stumped.. I acquired my grandads clubs when he stopped playing ( at 92!)

Its literally a mixed bag, his irons were mizuno widec (newish), the bag was a tattered thing from 1950 and these were his drivers..

so far ive only found I person selling a set of the same irons on ebay for 350!! Ive emailed him offering my clubs or at least asking if he knows how much they are worth but no reply...

I assume they have been regripped at some point as the grips are velvet cord gripper (victory) from usa....

im.selling my clubs but have no idea what to ask for these......

People MIGHT pay $10 - $20 for the woods. I say might because I've seen the same Bridgestone / Daiwa / Honma woods with graphite shafts on eBay since October.

Since these are not recognizable, it's unlikely anyone will be motivated to buy them except out of curiosity.
I have doubts that someone would pay $350 for Widec irons. They don't often pay that for MP33 which are highly esteemed irons.

If I were you, I'd play them. Or, sell it as a set for pretty cheap. Otherwise, you'll be holding on to them or tossing them.


Unfortunately, most people don't see the value in good things that aren't brand new. I bought 19 persimmon clubs from a guy for $200. Most are essentially junk, as in nobody will buy them. But a couple are good enough. None had stiff shafts.

Sounds fair enough. .. although I may have crossed my wires a little.. the ebay guy is selling a set of Tanaka irons (same shafts etc) for £350.. maybe a reach for him.. lol.

I know the widecs arent worth that lol.

ive tried playing with the woods and they just exaggerate my slice....
