Tommy Armour Silver Scot Cavity Back Forged

Hey all,

 

i was just wondering if anyone plays or had palyed these irons. they're dirt cheap right now, have a great rifle shafts in em and forged.

how's the feel on these irons? how forgiving are these irons? moreso than the mx-23?

I've heard they may not be "forged" as advertised. Some have posted on this board that when they went to bend the lofts, the clubs broke. If you don't need to bend them, they are a decent club.

I'm not sure about the Silver Scots not being forged, but the 845c and 845m are. Very forgiving for a blade, too. Probably the cheapest way to get into forged player's blades.

 

I bought my 845c on ebay for $130 brand new and the musclebacks used for $63.00.

I'm the guy that said they may not be forged. Was told this by "Armour Customer Service." With TA going through so many changes, I don't know who exactly is Customer Service. I couldn't get my irons bent upright (clubmaker was afraid he'd break) so I sold my set. I saw the force that was applied trying to bend! If these things are forged, they are the most brittle forging ever! If off the rack fits you, they are nice clubs. Most of the ones for sale have rifle shafts which is nice. Be sure to ask if the seller is a authorized TA dealer if you are buying off ebay. Any issues with the clubs can be handled easier that way.

I think they are forged, just form-forged like the old clevelands. Or maybe you just got an unlucky set. Some irons just happen to be very stiff and brittle and others very soft. For example: every time my clubmaker bends vokey's they are like butter, but when he was bending my 54* sm to a 52* he was grunting and you could hear it creak and pop...he got it to 52* anyways but I was a little scared.

Has anybody played with these? How are they? I am interested in trying them out myself, but have not been able to physically put my hands on a set to see how they are.

I´ve got the muscle backs as my back-up set (primary set is X-tour) and they are great. I take them out whenever I feel I hit the ball well and, forged or not, with the Rifle set-up, they are excellent. I bought mine on Ebay - paid 153$ - breat value for money. Otherwise - pull the shafts - would still be value for money.

Where can i get these? Also, I have seen a set of Nicklaus's with rifle flighted's. Does anyone know which ones they are?

I have the Silver Scot MB Blades and I also love them. I got mine on ebay for $158 shipped from proshopwarehouse.com. They have an ebay store and a regular website. If you want these irons check them out ebay they are going for a steal on there. I figured if I didn't like these irons I would at least get my money back on the shafts alone, since I was going to build a set from golfsmith before I found these.

 

Also the customer service from proshopwarehouse.com is great. I had two six irons in my set and no three iron, the service rep took care of it right away and shipped out the three iron the next day (it was after 5:00 when I called). Two days later the iron arrived and I boxed up the six with the prepaid return label.

I would call them mid-size. Slightly longer than standard player's blades. Fantastic irons, especially for the money.

I have been using the cb's now for a few weeks. Great iron, i have never played better. They are forged, i looked into them. Maybe form forged though. They are the same size as my buddy's Nike Pro combo irons. We compared them. The only difference is the TA's have a slightly curved topline right to the 3 iron where as the Nike's stopped at the 7. Not noticeable at address. WE compared 4 irons and the length and sole were pretty much the same. Hope this helps..
