Golfing in St. Kitts

I'm heading down to St. Kitts in November

and want to know if anyone has played the course on St. Kitts and Nevis.

Played St Kitts in Apr. and it is gorgeous. The front nine are along the atlantic ocean and the back along the caribbean ocean. The winds make it alot tougher, but the view is spectacular. Make sure you bring your camera too. Prettiest course Ive ever played.

One of if not the best course I played in the Carribean when I was down there for a year and a half. I played it when it was only 9 holes when they first opened it up so I have not even seen the other nine. Great views and you can always see the ocean even from the inland holes.

Take some pictures of the new side I would love to see the rest of the course!!

Thank you for the reply. I ended up playing both courses..The one next to the Marriott had the best views along the back 9 (specifically holes 14-17). Since I played by myself and no one was behind me or in front of me.. I was able to take photos along the way. Absolutely beautiful! :dntknw:

I ended up taking the boat over to Nevis and playing the Four Seasons course. The view, while not as cool as the back 9 on St. Kitts was still awesome :drinks: ! I have photos so if anybody wants me to post them, let me know.

Wow!!!!

Thanks MDHacker did that bring back memories. The club house there is amazing, nice to see they still groom the course better than anything I have ever played in the Carribean. That is the one thing that impressed me the most was how well groomed and how green everything was there.

I actually carded the first course record there when it was only 9 holes. They had only been open for a week and I shot 4 under for the nine holes.

I actually got the Cruise line I was working for at the time to set up golf excursions with these guys off the ships. At the time they had guys standing at the end of the peir trying to get people to play the course.

Great pics and I hope to one day get back down there and play the full course this time.

The Four Seasons course was desined by Kyle Phillips of now Kingsbarns fame when he worked for RTJ. The course climbs up and down Mt Nevis ending with the 18th green on the beach. It is walkable and it is very good in terms of resort courses. Great views, and has some great shots over some ravines.

The old course on St Kitts was muni-like years ago, but it has probably changed with the new course being built on St Kitts Marriott(?).

Thanks :dntknw: The course on St. Kitts was immaculate. Very well groomed and was a terrific pleasure to play. If you closely look at one of the photos, you can see Santa in a golf cart. Yep, you read right. They were doing a photo shoot on one of the holes (can't remember which, but it was a par 4 that ended in a steeply elevated green). When I got closer, I had to do a double take....lol I would gladly play that course over.

The Four Seasons course, while it was great in terms of layout, was in the middle of aeration (they did let me know and dropped their greens fees to "only" $110..lol) and I mean in the middle - had to wait for several of the holes while they aerated the greens). Still a great course (played it twice since there wasn't anybody in front of me or behind me - played as a single).

Coach:

The Four Seasons had a forced carry over a ravine from the tips. Man, I didn't have the game to play that hole (forced carry was like 265!). I was playing from the blues and stopped there because it looked very cool and happened to look at the sign warning you if you couldn't carry 265 then play from one of the other holes! I should of taken a picture of that.

The Course on St. Kitts is terrific and definitely has changed from it's muni days with the help of the Marriott I'm sure. It is fairly open and has some elevation changes on the back 9. Still the view is hard to beat with the Ocean literally a few yards from the fairway. The wind was strong the day I played the Royal St. Kitts to the point that I aimed one of my drives about 40 yards to the left of the fairway right into the ocean and let the wind carry it back - right into the middle of the fairway. Very cool!
