Just a Thought (same length shafts)

Ok so here's my thought, what if... Instead of having shafts and clubs of different lengths, why not have all the shafts in the clubs the same length but have different flexibility depending on the club. For example a three iron would of course have more stiffness that the pitching wedge, so I'm hypothesising that to make a more repeatable swing surely having the all the shafts the same length would be ideal, and compensating that would be the different flexes.

Anyways it's just a thought.

The problem w/ different flexes would be different release points....squaring the club consistantly would be an issue.

Also trajectory control.

.....But it is an idea. One length, one shaft flex.

Then to make up for the narrowing distance gaps between irons you'd just need to increase the loft gaps.

Wouldn't that be weird hitting a wedge that was the same length as a 5 iron?

Tommy Armour also tried a similar concept in the late 80's - early 90's called the EQL....the irons, I believe were all 5 iron length, and the woods were all 4 wood length....needless to say, you probably didn't see many sets floating around.

The concept is good, but your yardage gaps would be really close because you're creating the same speed with all the clubs, but just applying different loft. Remember too, that a longer shaft is going to encourage a flatter swing than a shorter one and I don't really think 38" overall length is going to give me optimal results with my short irons, especially in the control department..

Well I actually own a set of Tommy EQL's and they are the most accurate irons I have ever used. To start off I will let you know my brother has had a set for 10 years now and one day before a men's tourney I hit them at the range and loved the accuracy. I asked my bro if I can use them in the tourney cause I lost faith in my irons, needless to say I hit the pin from 140-160 3 times in the tourney and aced the 134yrd par 3 the first day I used them. The day after the tourney I went home and found a set on Ebay for $50 bucks and bought them regripped and had them for last 4 years. This year I bought R7's and bent them to my specs for loft lie and still not liking the accuracy with 4-6iron so this week went back to the old EQL's and dropping the ball within 10 feet from 210yrds.

All I can say is that like said on here there is only one swing plane to use but I do still place the ball in different position from 2 through pw. They are all around 5 iron length from 2-sw and are all 10 yrd gap between clubs. They are all same weight heads so same swing weight and flex. I would like to replace shafts since they are atleast 15-20 years old I think.

Even though the 2 iron is shorter I still out drive my opponents with it avg 260-265 with roll. PW 145, 9/155, 8/165 and so on.

I actually just bought G40+ heads and Project X flighted shafts but I am now wondering if I should even hit them or just build and sell them.

NEWAYS I for one am a big believer in them and might end up shooting them for another 10 years if I can find a comparable spec'd shaft

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
