Best value memberships for a 30y/o vs. Paradise card

Hello All,

 

I searched a few topics and found a few threads but nothing specifically targeting a price point, and I didn't want to piggyback off someone elses thread.

 

Simply put, I'm moving to Tampa (Hyde park area) and want to start playing 2-4 times a week. Ideally I don't want to spend more than about $1,500/year, if possible. Back in NC, the junior member rates were reasonable and then it got crazy expensive when you hit 38-40 so I'm hoping to be able to afford it for the next few years.

 

I'm fortunate to get off work around 2-3pm and in my last city (durham) I was allowed to come by after work and walk solo if it wasn't too busy. I'm always respectful if someone came up behind me and I felt i was slowing them down, and the club understood that. They also would tell me if it was busier and I couldn't go out solo. I would LOVE to find a place with a similar attitude, if I were to come by at 2-3 on a weekday.

 

So... the question is, should I join a club or just get a paradise card? Are there decent clubs within that price range?

Hate to be the bear of bad news, but the area that you’re moving to lacks nice golf courses. Imo, you’ll be better off getting a paradise card, find a place that you like and see what kind of deal you can get.

 

You’re going to be extremely hard pressed to find any sort of Junior membership for $1500 per year. Even Summer membership rates at a decent track are around $100 month, plus cart fees and those are only good for 4 months or so. Just to put a number on it for you, I’m an under 40 member at Southern Hills, pay $225 a month, $21 cart fee and $50 a month F&B. Understand that’s to far away for you, but will give you an idea of decent courses in the area.
