Unbelievable - I thought I used to hit irons long

I've always been a little longer than most guys I play with as far as irons. I'm usually pulling at least one club less on par 3's. I've been seeing a pro and he had me "shut" my clubface a lot. I think he was just exagerrating it a little to get me to change but man it's working. I had my buddy behind me and he says I'm dead square at the top now and it's obvious I'm square at impact now. The pro has me pulling with the left hard and I'm getting steeper than I was before. Distances with the irons are getting ridiculous now. Hitting SW over 100yds., GW is flying 120, PW is flying over 130.... ect, ect. The one that surprised me the most is a flag I know is nearly 180 at the range. I was just practicing, using that flag as an aim line and pulling harder and harder... hit the friggen stick with a 7iron. My buddy was like "holy crap", he's got a good swing and was barely getting a 5 there.

So, other than maybe just a little tooting of the 'ol horn here, lol, the point is if you want to add some distance, start by getting square at the top and at impact. I'm really enjoying finally getting some lessons and seeing all these little things coming together I've been working at for years on my own.
