My clubs aren't anything special, no tour issues, just retail stuff. I have recently took the paint fill out of my clubs now that the season has ended. I am probably going to fully redo my bag over the winter as I want change. Definetly some matrix going into the woods and maybe some taylormade as well.


Driver: 907 D2 9.5* YS6+ Stiff, Matte Finish or Taylormade Burner TP 9.5* GD X Stiff
3 Wood: 906f2 15* YS6+ Stiff, Matte Finish
Hybrid: 585 19* NV Stiff, Matte Finish or MP-33 2i
Irons: MP-32 S-300, based off 48* PW
Wedges: Vokey 52-08, SM56-10, SM60-04
Putter:Newport 2 34/340

How did you make your driver matte?

Great looking bag! The irons without any paintfill along with the matte finish on the woods gives your set-up an all business and purposefull look. Nice change from the norm of bold colors and designs.

 

 

I am curious about the lead tape on the heal of the driver. Did you cut down the shaft a bit and then add weight?

The matte was origianlly used as a cover up on my hybrid which got some sap on but I was lazy and didnt clean it off which ended up peeling a bit of the finish off and I had this matte black car touch up paint and tried it and liked the look and ended up doing it to my woods. The reason for the lead tape is I was havign a hard time hitting straight drives and were leaking them right all day and was sick of it and just slammed some tape on there and just never took it off. I did have white and blue paintfill for the whole season but first day after my course closed I removed it all becuase it was so last season.

Nothing wrong with having retail stuff. In fact, I think it's better on the hip pocket! Nice bag there, simple, classic and clean. No gimmicky stuff. And I see a 2-iron there! I respect you for keeping the tradition alive. I'd pull out my 2-iron if I had more time to practice, but I'm sticking with the hybrid for now.

 

Keep those 2-irons alive! (It's a shame to also see the death of the 3-iron too)

I usually use a hybrid, but in the fall in Calgary (Canada) it gets very windy the last couple months of the season and the hybrid hits too high for windy conditions.

New driver added, hopefully will put a x-con 6 in the driver in the next few months during the winter golf break.

How does it compare or differ from the D2 for you?

much more forgiving, i was hitting my d2 well in the summer but in the fall when i was just working full time and not having much time to practice it was getting wild so I need more forgiveness becuase i just want to hit fairways. but i prefer the feel of the burner more, it is more mute and solid than the d2, burned is lke a firm marshmallow and d2 is still not a bad felling driver but more tinny.
