Hi miaxoxxo79, I'm surprised that no one has shared any fantasies yet as I think that this topic has some great potential.

So here goes my stab at this topic.

I'd like to see the PGA Tour provide a one-time offer via a lottery/qualifying event (via Amateur Golf League tournament or similar event) a "GOLDEN TICKET" or 5 "GOLDEN TICKETS" to an "average amateur golfer/Mid-Amateur golfer" (preferably someone with a handicap between 13 to 17, age between 40-55) to compete at a PGA Tour event with the same opportunity to receive the full prize money.

The conditions that should allow this to happen to be a fair opportunity to everyone competing should include the following:

1.) The USGA-rated handicap of the amateur player will apply so that he will compete using a "NET SCORE" while the Pros will use their "GROSS SCORE".
2.) USGA will provide one-time waive of the restriction for the amateur player to receive the prize money if he wins or places in the event.
3.) The amateur Player is required to have competed in a minimum of 8 amateur league tournament events a year for two straight years to eliminate any sandbaggers.
4.) The amateur player will compete in all 4 rounds.
5.) The amateur player will be playing from a different set of tees with a total course yardage of no more than 6,200 yds.
6.) PGA Tour will provide a one-time exception to allow the "average amateur golfer/Mid-Amateur golfer" to compete in the designated event.

The beauty behind this opportunity is to provide a fantasy event that I think no other sport can offer as golf, by virtue of its handicap system, is the only sport  that can allow your "Average Joe" to compete against the best in the world.

This would be much different than Open tournaments like the US Open because instead of scratch players, we will be allowing the "AVERAGE AMATEUR GOLFER" to compete against the best in the world.

I think that this will resonate more with the public as we all know that players in this handicap range will tend to have more "drama" and a little bit more adventure.

If this fantasy event were to happen, I think the TV ratings and publicity for the PGA Tour will go off the charts and be a great positive.

I also bellieve that the impact would probably be in the same magnitude of what Tiger did for the PGA Tour.

If the handicap of the amateur player/s can be guaranteed as authentic, I think that the danger of the integrity of the field being questioned can be minimized. I don't see any other downsides aside from the handicap integrity but I welcome input from the forum to find any other downsides that may be a showstopper.

We all know that golf is a difficult sport and to reach and maintain scratch-level skill requires a lot of time and effort so I think focusing on the "AVERAGE GOLFER" who only has a limited amount of time to practice and a  limited skillset is a more practical and realistic choice to represent for what I think is a majority of amateur golfers today.

Nonetheless, even with a net score and a different set of tees, playing against the best at difficult courses for four rounds, I still believe that the "AMATEUR PLAYER" will still have the odds stacked up against him so I think that it will still be a fair fight for everyone competing.

Nobody wants to watch me top a drive, then chunk my approach and blade my chip across the green just to make a fantastic 40 foot putt from off the fringe for par.  But if you were to set this up I would definitely send in my application, because I think this is a good idea.  Also maybe a tourney like the Pebble Beach Pro-Am or  Annie's tourney at Bay Hill would be good choices.
