Please feel free to chime in on the results you've gotten from speed training. I'm just getting started with this. I'm 46 and just returned to playing last year. Currently at a 16 handicap. 

 

My son just turned 9 and has a great swing. He'll be doing some of this with me as far as speed sticks and keeping track of results. 

 

I just got the 3 speed sticks and a PRGR monitor. I have been working on swing mechanics and speed stuff for a little while prior to this. 

 

At the same time I'm also doing some basic strength training as well as stretching regularly. 

 

Starting off I have maxed out with the green stick at 103. My max swing with a driver hitting a ball was at 99 and a 147 ball speed. I had mostly 97-99 once warmed up.

 

My son starting off has gotten to 72mph. with the green stick. I did not get driver data for him.

 

Prior to this he has been training with a 65g shaft, no head on it. That he is up to 111 with and for some reason can swing much faster with both hands. I cannot hit even close to that both hands on it but can hit 130 right handed and 112 left handed. I think my 2 hand swings were low 90's, no idea why.

 

I also purchased a package at a big discount from Golf Galaxy so we have 20 trackman sessions to use over the winter there.

Only have done 2 sessions on the superspeed training. Went to Golf Galaxy to hit on trackman. After about 10minutes I was warmed up and hitting some decent numbers. So close to 100SS 150BS but those will have to wait.

 

Feeling good and hitting it pretty well. Suprisingly going for speed I'm actually hitting it just as solid or more.

 

Few pics I took for reference. Last lesson, last month my top speed was 96.5. All shots were off a tee except one 3w. The 3w is a Rogue typeD. I have the the same one on the way but with 75S vs. 65S in this one.

Making good progress. I got to my milestone of 100/150 and improved speed with my "course swing". 

 

 

I've also been able to take my high baby cut out on the course with some success. 1st hole we were waiting for our 3rd yesterday so hit tee shots. Then he arrived so I jumped in cart to hit another drive with him (guy 2 hit horrible tee and 2nd shots so wanted to replay it), left bag at my tee shot. You can see 100marker faded up ahead. I don't know how long they were but played that hole like 300x and those are probably the best.

 

 

It isn't all peaches and cream though. At 46yrs. old my back and my lead knee are feeling it a bit.

Now we're cooking. I've been working out a lot harder and working on my swing last month. Up to 111 on the green stick yesterday.

There's like 126 page thread on the 1st page that people contribute to regularly.  I'm about 8 weeks in to my journey have seen some great results so far.  Best advice is go hard and be disciplined with the schedule.  Don't get too caught up on good days or the bad days.  Real progress takes time and it takes even more time for speed gains to normalize and stick around.  I see this as almost routine that I'll continue in some form for years to come.  I think a maintenance program will probably be needed during golf season to keep gains and then maybe each offseason diving back in full time.
