What's up with the price? $$$

$599 retail for a Burner Tour TP? The club does not even have weights like an r7. The last version of the Burner TP was $399. What a joke.

The last years Burner TP didn't come with $200-$300 shafts as standard option either. :wub: I think that somewhat justifies the price increase.

You could upgrade to Fuji Rombax 55,65,75, 85, and Diamana 64, and 83 for only $40. The new driver comes with Matrix, Diamana White, and Rombax 75. The shafts they offer do not justify the new price.

TaylorMade's new Tour Burner TP (Tour Preferred) driver is already tour-proven, having been played in competition by Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, Sean O'Hair, David Toms, Jason Day, Kenny Perry, Peter Lonard and Dean Wilson. The Tour Burner TP driver differs from the Tour Burner in three ways:

 

1) The Tour Burner TP's clubface is engineered 2° open, while the standard Tour Burner's face is square.

2) The Tour Burner TP is available in a choice of three shafts: Matrix Ozik Xcon-5 (55-grams), Mitsubishi® Diamana® Whiteboard 65 (65-grams) and Fujikura® Rombax® Z 75 (75-grams).3) The grip is standard weight, not lightweight.

 

The Tour Burner TP's open face angle works in conjunction with the characteristics of the three selected shafts to help prevent skilled players from losing the ball to the left.

 

The Tour Burner TP will become available at TaylorMade's retail partners starting in April at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $699.

Does it really matter. Just wait another 6 months and they will have something new out to cannibalize their existing product

Funny thing is that no one is forcing anyone to buy anything in the golf market place. IMO it is no different than Callaway wanting $500 bones for a FTI Tour version which includes a Speeder 686 shaft. If you don't want one, don't buy. Trust me, all of the Mfgrs will survive if you or I don't like their price. Somone out there will pay it!!!
