Oban CT

Anyone have the CT shaft in their wedges?  I was fitted for Nippon Modus 115x a couple of months ago and love the shaft, but my fitter also said that alternatives would be the DG105x and the Oban CT 115x.

 

Been a fan of the Oban lineup especially the Kiyoshi purple in my driver, but really interested in the iron shaft and no one has them for demo to try out.  I saw Ping has the Oban's as an upgrade option, but that's an expensive "demo" lol, so looking to see if anyone has tried and compared the Modus 115 and the CT.

I can't say about Oban CT but I did want to caution against DG 105X. If you like Modus 115X then you'll probably find DG 105X light and soft. 

 

Another option you could look into is Nippon 1150GH. I think they may be similar to Modus 115. Just not prevalent like the others you're looking at.

I have played both the Modus 115s and CT in S and S+.  Not exactly sure what you're wanting to know.  General thoughts is they perform similar.  I think the Oban CT is pretty unique to anything, but the Modus is as close as you'll get in terms of "feel".  For me both were mid launch mid/low spin.  I regret parting with my Obans as they are difficult to find on used and you pay quite the premium brand new.  If price isn't an issue, I'd go with the Obans and not think twice.  You won't have remorse.

OBAN does not sell OEM „made for“ shafts. If there is a OBAN in the custom order program of a OEM you will always have to pay some extra. And exactly because of this, most fitting bags are not having the OBAN in… it is sad, because those shafts are very good. I have hit a CT once in a iron set of a friend, feels superb.

I'd try the modus 125 wedge shaft first (if you grip down with your wedges), if you don't try Modus 115 Wedge.

It's funny cause I actually have the 105x in my 2 iron, but needed a touch more height, so TM said they would switch out to a s300 for free.  I liked the feel of the 105x, but it did feel a every so slightly softer than the Modus 115x.

I read somewhere that the 1150GH is the older version of the Modus 115 so it makes sense.

Good to know information from what you just told me.  Always been interested in the Obans and read further that it's a more tighter Modus.  I definitely wouldnt mind sticking to the Modus 115x but being a tinkerer and a club ho, trying a shiny bright new Oban is always on my mind lol.

Any other difference between teh 115 and 125 other than just being heavier?  I would like a heavier shaft in the wedge so if all things being equal between the two other than weight, a 125 might be the ticket if I were to go for the more affordable option between that and the Oban 125.

Its essentially softer in flex than a modus 115x wedge would be with a heavier weight. If you hit a lot a partial shots/grip down shots with wedges it be a great option.
