T 150, KM 700, i530, ZX5: The "Backup Set Blues"

I love my T150s. They aren't going anywhere. But I'm a club junkie. Anytime something new comes out that looks good to me, I immediately start rationalizing my need for a second set. You know, a "backup set" in case I get robbed at the Club. I was shopping in the players distance category thinking that having some i530s or ZX5s might be fun, as I could change things up and play the tips occasionally. But I saw the KM 700s and immediately started looking at Miuras again. I went through my Miura phase about 10 years ago (CB 57s) but being the club ho that I am is apparently a progressive affliction. The moment I saw the KM 700s, most everything else in the Miura lineup looked terrific, and so there I was, walking the streets again with holes in my glove.

Here's my ask: Please talk me out of the KM 700s or, if you prefer, talk me into a better second set option. I'm a mid-60's 5HC who's losing a little distance, but I can still move the ball (165-170 -7 iron) and I play a lot. Should I get off the distance iron wagon? To be honest, I haven't taken the plunge because I'm still not sure what I would do with a 185 yard 7 iron. But something tells me I could get over that "problem." On the other hand, if I were to go KM 700s, would I be throwing my money at hard-to-hit clubs that defeat the entire purpose? Should I be looking at a more forgiving, distance Miura option or something else entirely different?

Just going through this exercise has made me appreciate my T150s even more, as they split the baby perfectly. But that doesn't negate my need for a back up set. If nothing else, I am practical.

I feel like the miuras would be the hottest ones to look at in the extra bag, but not sure they would really add any oomph to what you have with the 150s. Hard to pass up how sexy they are though so I feel your pain.

Thinking rationally with your situation, I would pick the players distance club with the closest sole design (i530?) and slap those on the same shafts you have. Then see if theyre worth keeping/jive with your swing.

If you do end up doing a players distance iron that goes farther, you can really tinker with the top and bottom of the bag to fill in all the fun new gaps! More clubs and projects to test!
