What length should I cut my mini driver to?

Just got a TM mini driver and it only comes stock in stiff so have an old TM x flex driver shaft laying around that I want to pop in.  
 

as of now the shaft I’m putting in has no grip on it or adapter.  I need to now what id cut it to to play standard TM three wood length with a grip (mcc plus 4 midsize) and the adapter. 
 

so what length would I cut it to in its current state?  I might add a quarter inch or so to whatever the right answer is just to give it a little extra lol

Can’t you dry fit the shaft into the adapter?

I have a slit grip I removed from an old club that I slide onto a shaft for swing weighting. Handy to have around. 

Just dry fit everything to see how much shaft to remove.

You might want to tip the shaft some if the head is actually 3 wood head weight.

Good point I’m doing it backwards for sure - newbie over here.  
 

can you explain why I’d want to tip?  I was thinking of just cutting the butt end and don’t really have any experience with tipping

If you look at any shaft manufacturer website, driver shafts that can be played in fairway woods, need a tip trim to compensate for the heavier head weight of a fairway head compared to a driver head. 
 

You need to weigh your mini driver on a kitchen scale to get a gram weight. 
 

Driver heads are around 200 gr. +-, 3 wood heads are around 210 gr. +-

 

Many wood shafts get a 1/2” tip trim for a 3 wood. But each shaft and manufacturer is different. 

Without tipping a shaft, it will play softer in a fairway wood head.

It’s not that hard.

 

Look on a site like Golfworks. Find the shaft you have. They list a trimming code number under the shaft information. Find their trimming code list under “technical” “trimming code” and cut the corresponding amount. 
 

Or, go to the manufacturer website. They probably have a trimming guide for your shaft.
