Driver help

I really am having trouble hitting my driver. Granted, I've never hit it well, but lately it has been even worse. It just feels really awkward in my hands. After hitting my irons it feels so big and unnatural. I find my swing to be extremely sloppy with it and not smooth feeling at all. Any tips for a good, smooth driver swing? How do I know when I am the correct distance from the ball? Should my posture be more upright on my irons? What are your basic steps for setting up to hit the driver?

Bump. I am looking at new drivers and was wondering if it could possibly help me? I currently hit a Adams GT3 10.5 regular flex. I honestly cannot hit the thing at all. Once in a while I can get a hold of it and drive it 250 yards dead on, but that's like once every 50 shots (no exaggeration). Otherwise, the ball is all over the place and I just cannot hit it. I top it, I slice it, I hit it into the ground right in front of me. I just don't know what my problem is.

 

Sorry for the bump, but I really need some driver advice. I want to know the basics of a driver swing.

in order to answer you properly a person needs to know your skill level and what problems you are having. This is probably why no one spoke up .

 

I will tell you that your posture and set up should be the same as it is with your irons variations as to closed square or open stance are normal but unimportant for the most part.

 

Ball off left heel ball teed so about havl the ball is above the clubhead.

 

 

Now I am going to give you the true secret. How do you hit your driver as well as your irons?

Most people get driver in there hand grip it tighter swing it back faster and try and kill it

 

The secret is to grip it the same take it back nice and slow and swing it the same tempo you would a nine iron.

First of all lets look at the driver itself. Are you hitting a driver that is fit for you. (I.e shaft flex, loft, etc.)

 

Second Ball, yes I said ball. Is the ball you are playing the best one for your game.

 

Ok so we have these two options.

 

In regards to post above. With all do respect he does have one thing and that is grip pressure.

 

The driver swing is the same swing as a 9 iron only at a different angle.

 

Also tee the ball up higher than the middle of the clubface. This will promote a upswing motion with the driver.

 

Todays Drivers alows for more error.

 

Also take some lessons from your local PGA Professional. This will hellp you in the long run.
