Turning Chrome into Satin

Is it possible

Ok guys I have a set of Retail Rac TP chrome combo's. My 48 pw is a satin tour issue, and so are my 54, and 60. Is there any way I can turn the chrome irons into a satin finish?

Easy to do but need a good steady hand to stroke it evenly and straight...and even pressure all around.

I'm thinking a flap wheel would work well for this, too.

Zach - I did a couple of sets of Z101's using a dremel tool. They sell a two piece abrasive wheel set that are like the 3M pad material - one is brown wheel and the other is green. Start with the coarse brown wheel and then the green wheel. I try to go back in forth in one direction. I then use a green 3M pad and buff by hand. Lastly I use a coat of flitz metal polish to seal an shine.

 

Practice on an old club first. It really is not hard.

Looks like with this one, if you had a drill you could attach it to that and not have to worry about buying a dremel or a bench grinder. Joe, could this one just be put into a drill?

 

I've bought a set of Eye2s that have been glass blasted, but I can tell that finish isn't going to last long and I want to do the sole plates on them. I may give one of these a try or head to Home Depot and see if they have something similiar.

you probably will need the dremel because of the dremel having a much higher rpm than a drill.

A smaller version that can be attach to the drill is available through your local hardware store.

 

This type of work doesn't need high speed, In fact you need to have a perfect speed so you will not ruin the corner area. It's just to easy to mess it up w/ higher speed rotation. You need to put aluminum tape first the part that you don't want to get brush, Start w/ light pressure and get the hang of it w/ a straight hand movement.

 

It's a labor intensive and easy to mess it up if you are not patient.
