Anybody else a little skeptical of equipment in 2006?

As far as I can tell, Titleist and Taylor are the only two left to debut a 460 driver. I think Taylor is targeting the hack w/ the 460. Titleist has alot riding on the 460 because the 905 was hardly a blowout. Dont forget titleist is a ball company first and foremost.

Cleveland continues to defy the odds w/ new innovative equipment and a rock solid staff. I think the hi-bore may be huge, its really nothing like anything out there. The Carbon Metal Matrix material is incredible. Anything they make with that material will do well. The halo is the best hybrid on the market.

Yes has got one helluva product. if you havent tried one, your missing the boat. the same could be said for tp mills company. david mills is making some incredible putters right now.

The negatives:

Callaway: the ft3 is a joke. irons are re-hashed crap. the x-tour is forged for hackers. The new x tour woods have no chance. I anticipate this company is going down this year.

Taylor: can they rid the RAC? give me a break. they are a wood company only. put a little effort in the iron category.

Ping: in the retail world they own it right now, but can you bring a players driver to the market?

Titleist: those 735cms are weak. that hybrid they have now is horrible! mizuno blows them out of the water in the forged market! i hope their 695s are a drastic improvement.

i wish there was more on the horizon. i dont see me making any equipment changes this year unless the hi-bore pans out.

triputt, give the companies a break! I'd like to see deisign some clubs! Mizuno does have a good handle on the forged irons, but Titleist irons are sweet as well. Titleist is going to have a great lineup for '06. What are %$#@&*^# about? The RAC irons have made TaylorMade a crapload of $$$. The new Callaway lineup is going to make them some money. I do agree with you that the FT-3 is messed up and that the X-tours are forged irons for hackers...but they are pretty sweet.

I'm not sure about this. 460cc drivers are popular with better players and tour players as well, so I don't think they're targeting the hack with that any more than they are with any of their other clubs. Saying Cleveland "defies the odds" with their new equipment is kind of odd. They've always been a company known for their traditional looking clubs. Sure, some of their newer stuff is a bit different, but I can't see them "defying the odds" anytime soon. Taylormade did with the R7, and I'm not even a bit TM fan at all. I just don't think anything Cleveland will be putting out this year will make a huge mark in the club market.

Titleist has been very successful with their drivers so far, and the 905 is no exception. It was a great seller and a great golf club too.

However, these are just opinions, and you're certainly entitled to them!

cleveland defies the odds because they were nothing more than a wedge company up until a few years ago. they are tiny in comparison to the money in taylor, callaway and titleist!

explain the 425 and the slightly delayed 460 with taylor? 2 weight ports vs 4. its the same deal as last years r5 440cc and r7 400cc.

im goin with triputt on some of the sfuff he said, not ALL though.i agree that the fusion isnt the greatest driver out there and i really dont like the x 14 16 18 etc.the x tours are fine though.

i agree mizuno make the best forgings in golf and i think they are better than titleist.i dont agree titleists hybrid is bad, its a solid club

i agree the rac os, lt etc arent the best irons but the mbs are quite nice

i agree the halo amd the hibore are goin to have a massive year

i dont agree with the comment bout ping.the g5 is a solid club, and can be a very good 'players club' with the right shaft and loft
