Whats in the bag - Tbharris

Recommended Posts

Nothing fancy, just sticking with what works.
Let me start out by saying I am not a big fan of changing clubs. I like to find something that works and stick with it. The only exception to this is driver and putter but everything that switches in and out is rather old as well.

The bag is nothing fancy. I won it at a company golf outing. Its a Nike Stand bag.

The current driver in the bag is a Titleist 983E, 8.5 degrees of loft with Fujikura Speeder 757 stiff flex. This driver reminds me of the 975D that I used for a long time without the nasty maroon shaft. I have tried other drivers but this one always seems to find its way back to the bag. I have to show some love to my favorite baseball team with the headcover and in true Cubs fashion I do believe this is going to be the year.

My 3 wood is a Sonartec SS 2.5, 14 degress loft with a Fujikura Tour Phantom Stiff Flex. This has become my go to club on short/tight holes that require accuracy instead of distance

My hybrid is a Sonartec HB001, 19 degrees loft with a Graphite Design OniN 2 Stiff Flex. This is the newest edition to the bag and the only thing that has been there less than 2 years.

My irons on MacGregor PCB Tour 3i through PW. Changing irons is something I really hate to do do. These have been in the bag for several years and I have no plans of switching them out until I have to.

My wedges are titleist Vokey 54 and 60 degree. I am currently looking to replace the wedges but have not decided on what yet.

The current putter in the bag is a Ping Anser 2, 34 inches. Most putters that see regular playing time are similar to this one.

Other putters that occasionly get playing time are below.

Listed left 2 right.
Ping MyDay, Bettinardi BB16, Scotty Cameron TeI3 Newport, Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum Newport Midslant, and Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum Laguna 2

I also play a Nike Ignite 410, 9.5 degrees of loft with a Fujikura shaft stiff flex.

The only time anything changes besides the driver and putter are during windy conditions when a few of the old faithfuls make their way in to the bag. A ping eye 2 iron and an old callaway warbird 3+ wood.

To show my hatred for switching irons here is what I was playing prior to the PCB Tours. They were Titleist Tour Model 90.

I know it isn't as fancy of a setup as you will see from some members on here but everything in th bag is there for a reason and seems to work for me. I could probably gain a few yards off the tee or more spin around the greens, etc.... but then I would have to go through the process of learning a new club.

Just started back into the game nearly 3 years now after a 15 year absence (first post), :russian_roulette:

now using a second hand set of macregor pcb tour irons, 3 - pw, 3 only sometimes in the bag, (still learning my swing again),

glad to see someone else using same irons as me,

those irons have been great for my game, really teach you to swing straight instead of using big game improvement irons (which i used until recently).

Well after saying I don't like to switch things up there have been a few changes. The 983E has been replaced with the Ignite. This isn't a major change though because those 2 clubs seem to be interchangeable. I hit the ball about 1o yards farther with the Titleist but that doesn't help any if you are laying 2 fairways over or re-teeing playing 3 off the box. In the past I will admit that I have been a little wild with this driver but nothing to the extent of what I have been the last few rounds so the Nike goes back in the bag.

I also am pulling the Sonartec HB 001 19 degree out of the bag and putting back in the original MD 17 degree. I had wanted the extra loft to give a few more options with the club but this one really seemed to balloon on me so it is out and will most likely go up for sale.

I am also replacing the old worn out vokies with some new scratch wedges. This was more of a move that I had to be done and not something I did just because.

Last but not least I will be putting a Ping Karsten Series B60 in to play as soon as it comes in. The bettinardi putter was sold on here and my girlfriend has decided to take over the Laguna for her nightly carpet putting so the only logical move was to get a new putter. I played an old B60 in the past that was borrowed from a friend and had great success so I thought I would bite the pullet and purchase one since I have heard great things about the Karsten series and it is tough to beat for the price.

Once everything comes in I will add pictures.
