Aldila NVS 85g shafts

I've been catching up on old posts about the NVS shaft, but I just figured I'd post up a thread looking for possible reviews on the 85g version.

 

Thinking about picking up 2 of these from aldila closeouts for my 3 & 5w.

The other option is the Nippon 950 gh steel fw shafts.

 

Does the NVS feel a little tighter or stouter as you move up in weight?

I currently play the nvs 75-s in my 3w, although it's a bit under length. It can be a bit wayward when I step on it, but I get a good trajectory, it feels fine, and I don't have much trouble moving the ball either way.

 

I could stand it to be tightened up a bit some, but don't want the harsher feeling nv, and I'm not sure if an 'x' is the way to go.

Just saw they have 95g & 105g wood shafts too. Hmmmmm......

the nvs will play a little stouter(tighter) and have a slightly lower trajectory in the same flex in a heavier model...it will still retain the smoothness of its lighter counterparts...the nippon 950gh fw shafts is also another great alternative...very nice alternative in a fairway wood if youre looking for a heavier shaft but still need a smoother feel(kick)...

I found the 85 to be quite good in my 3 wood, and its still in my 5 wood. That said, it's totally different to the other shafts I use in my other woods. It goes very high. It is a goto club, but it'll give you a high right or low left if you really go at it.

 

What I did find, was that the 85 in a 907D2 was a MONSTER.

Hmmmmm.... this is not making my choices any easier. lol

 

I'm hitting a tx-90 in my 5w, and an nvs 75-s in my 3w, but my 3w is short... same length as my 5w.

 

I notice when I go at the nvs, it will go high and right, but if I go at the 5w it will lean more left.

Best shaft I have ever played in a 3 wood, got it standard in my NP99 in a X.

 

Would say for $29.95 buy buy buy, shame I cant warrant putting a pink shaft in any off my clubs even if it is at $30 lol

heh . . . i, otoh, am shameless, and have no problems whatsoever using a pink shaft in the big stick :) (i recently installed a pink NV55 in one of my TEE drivers :good: )
