Am I gonna be restricted???

Shot my best ever round today . . .

Today was our Men's Club Championship (2 day championship). I am 3.8 handicap. I ended up shooting a 65 today at Apple Tree Golf Course (my best round ever on any course) with 10 birdies.

My quesiton is this: The next time that the handicaps come out, will I be restricted? I don't have any rounds under 71 in my past 20 rounds. I just got lucky today and had a good round. I'm okay with my handicap going down and possibly being rectricted as I'm on cloud 9 right now. Thanks.

What I have heard is that, one great score won't get you restricted. I'm

not an expert, but I have heard of that happening after a couple of LOW

scores.

 

BTW, I was a 1 earlier this year, and had MY personal best 65. I wasn't

restricted, but it did make me a 0. ;) :drinks:

That score alone should knock you down to a 1.

One great score will not restrict your handicap. You must have two exceptional scores in tournaments to have your handicap frozen. They do not have to be shot in the same tournament. It also depends on the rating and slope of the course(s) you played when you shot those scores. A 65 on one course may be an exceptional score while on another course it may not be. I believe the score has to be at least 8 shots below the course rating to qualify. When I played as an amateur I was a +1 and shot two scores that were 9 below the rating in tournaments and the USGA froze me at a +5. Yeah that made it quite fun when I played weekend games at my course.

I don't think just one score would restrict you

"Reduced" is the word.
And it takes at least 2 good 'T' scores. 'T' scores stay in the system for 1 year - whether or not they are in your most recent 20 scores.
Just look at the bottom of your scoring record and it will show your best 2 'T' scores still in your record. (If you have played in tournaments where 'T' scores have been posted.)

Regardless - don't worry about earning a 'R' (reduced) handicap.
It's no biggie.
