Problems with it reading yardages

I have had my skycddie SG4 for a couple of years now. I have noticed that over the past year the battery life is not a good as it use to be. Now it does not read the yardages correctly. Does the battery have anything to do with it or is the device have something else wrong. One day it worked then I charged it up and the next day this started.

Has anyone else experienced this?

THOG, what is it doing exactly? If it is having trouble picking up the satellite signal (doesn't give a number, just a -- symbol) you may only have to "reset" the GPS. Push the Menu button and then scroll down and select Advanced Menu; you should then see Reset GPS.

 

If it is giving you bad yardages, remember there is a +/- 3 yd tolerance.

 

The other item, although it sounds wacky, is to make sure the unit is set on Yards and not Meters. You should see a Y on the screen, but if there is an M, it is set on metric distances. You can change this via the Menu, too.

 

The battery life on these units is never great. They are kind of like cell phones and the battery will deteriorate over time. You have to get a new one every 1 - 2 years depending on use and charging cycle.

Yes it is giving me --- on the screen. I will try reseting it.

Also have you got the latest Software Version on your Unit. I went to download some courses for my Pro the other day on his SG4 and there was a new software update. After doing that update there was a message saying you'd have to Reset the GPS before it would work correctly. Not sure what the new Software offers but I had to reset the GPS twice before it could re-find the satellites.
