New Callaway/Nikon LR550Y or LR550W rangefinder

Anyone tried one yet?

I'm starting to see the new Callaway/Nikon rangefinders (LR550) available in yellow or white. The maximum rangefinding distance is 550 yards, which should be plenty and also have the new first target technology. They retail for $299, but I'm sure you can get one for less. Does anyone own one and if so, how do you like it so far?

The LR550 Y / W are not new. They have been at the 299 price point for a long time. They are good range finders though. There is a thread somewhere on this forum for the Bushnell that can be had for under $150 though.

I have had the 500g nikon for about a year and love it. It is smaller than the bushnell and has the same features. It may be good to 500 yds. but I challenge anyone to hold it still enough to measure that far unless it is a bus you are trying to see. I bought it instead of the Callaway because at the time, the Callaway was charging a lot for it's name...Try amazon.com and you can get some good prices.

make sure you do a good comparison, I prefer the bushnell and found it acquired the target easier as well as steadier.

anyone try the new brand called Leupold? They may not be new to other sports, but they are getting into golf now. Just wondering if anyone has one.

I have the LR550Y and I love it. I was looking at it and the Medalist. The thing I like about the Callaway is that the laser goes for 8 seconds so you can hit multiple targets in one swoop. It is very easy to aim, and I can hit the flag with it from up to 400 yards away. I don't think you will be disappointed with it.
