Igolf gps unit? anybody tried this? Reviews?

I am looking into GPS units and had decided it would not be worth the money. Then I saw the Igolf Neo for around $150. Has anybody had any experience with this unit? Is there a review somewhere that I missed?

Yep, it's an awesome little piece of technology that's simple to use. I poo-poo'd on GPS also until I saw and bought an iGolf Neo--it's eye opening when your used to looking at yardage markers or guessing the yardage to a back pin position. You have no doubt whether to pull that extra club or not.

I got one back in July after reading about it on the forums. First post for me, but I've been lurking quite a bit. I just had to respond to this thread.

 

First off, it's the best $130 odd bucks I've ever spent on Golf. Great piece of hardware. I pretty much gave up on Bushnell Laser unless it's my first time playing a course that I need to map.

 

Second, it's the worst money I've ever spent on the membership option for the 100 courses.

 

Being a software developer for over 30 years the web site is atrocious and in serious need of basic overhaul. It appears to be an afterthought with no money put into it's development. You must search for courses by name. You cannot put in a default or starting zip code and say show me all courses within x number of miles. You cannot see when the course was mapped (if they have it) or if there have been updates to their mappings. At least 3 of the 15 I've downloaded so far had errors. And the list continues.

 

BTW, did you guys realize the following.

 

1. The bunker mappings are to the center of the bunker.

2. If you map your own course, upload to edit it using their filemaker, then download it again, they actually round the lat/long coordinates up or down to only 4 decimal places. I don't know if that's only inches, but they shouldn't do that.

3. Courses with multiple nines, say 3 of them, are downloaded as seperate files. So in reality, what should be 1.5 download credits from your total is in reality 3 full credits.

I agree on the web-site-I actually complained about it a bit after I bought my GPSCaddie II but decided that, in the overall scheme of things, it was a relatively minor PITA.

 

I was aware of the middle of the bunker mapping-I'm pretty sure that's what most of the non-walked courses do. I've added a few points on greeenside bunkers (or waste areas) where the middle isn't good enough.

 

Didn't know about the rounding issue-but then again, I've had problems with the course editing software previously so I've not used it in quite a while.

I like the fact that you can share courses. If you map a course you can send it as a file to another I golf. Also, when your subscription runs out, you still can use the material.

Update to my post:

 

There actually is an 'advanced search' feature on their site, but It doesn't work for Canada. You can search for courses within a defined area. My apologies for the misinformation.
