Thoughts on Bushnell Scout 1000?

What has been the overall perception of this rangefinder? I am on a $200 budget and might pass it up if it isn't worth it right now. I have seen good reviews and seems great for the price it is at.

Would like to hear some thoughts. Thanks

I have one and love it. For the price (its a twin to the V2) I don't believe it can be beat. I have not used the 1500 which is very well liked and reviewed here, but I like the Scout better because it is more compact and fits into my side pocket during my golf round.

Walmart.com has it for $198. Check it out.

I have a Bushnell Scout 1000 and think it is great. It is identical to the V2 with some minor differences which are mostly cosmetic. The Scout has an additional brush mode that is not very useful for golf. The names of the functions are different (e.g. target vs pin) but the function is the same. I have used mine for every round I played since August. I have no problem picking up flags at 200 yards or less in a couple of seconds. Longer distances may take a couple of tries or you can just laser the bunker or spot on the green. If money weren't an object, most would say go for the 1500. However, I really like the smaller size of the Scout and I can't imagine needing one that works any better. The only downside is that battery life could be longer. I'm on my 3rd battery (counting original) since August. I probably get about 12 rounds per battery but I expect it may improve some over the warmer months. You won't be disappointed with the performance.

Played with a guy with new 1600 today. Yardages and response times were identical all day to my Scout 1000. Also, for times when a hook wound up behind trees, the brush mode worked like a charm, alot of reviews say this is of no value, but for me it is an added feature that the V2 and others do not have. Can't imagin any better performance than my Scout 1000, $170 buy it now on E-bay, and with the extra money saved, ordered new set of wedges...
