I shot my career low round today!

Sharing my swing thought.
Score: 68 (-4)

Fairways: 12 / 14

Greens: 15 / 18

Putts: 29

Sand: 1 / 1

Up/Down: 2 / 2

5 birdies, 1 bogie (3 putt) :tongue:

Slicefixer has been helping me out for some time now and he's given me some pointers for keeping my swing "short, wide, and compact". I've worked hard to get my swing as "tight" as possible and it's starting to come around. When you can keep your arms connected to your torso and in synch throughout the swing it's almost impossible to hit a shot too far off line.

This was my swing thought for today. I pictured that there were strong elastic straps hooked to the back of my arms (tricep area) and then hooked to my sides. Then when I would swing, my arms could move away from my body a little on the backswing but not too far because those straps would get tight...then when I would start down with my hips and torso those straps would be really tight and keep my arms totally connected and coming through at the same time as my body. So at impact, my chest, arms, and club were all covering the ball and coming through at the same time.

I'm sure everyone has their own thing...this is what worked for me and I thought I'd share it in case it could work for someone else. Keeping that swing tight is the key to consistent ball striking and even though I made 5 birdies today I still left a little out there with the putter but I'm not complaining one bit.

68 baby!!! :)

very nice round... i had a tourny today it was a stableford.

i also had a good round, not my lowest but a good round.

i shot 72 w/ 35 points

scoring system was:

0=double+

1=bogey

2=par

3=bird

4=eagle

6=hole in one or double eagle

it was a 72 so i did shoot +1 but the conditions were not great and i only have two tournys under par so it was a good day for me. i had an ob and missed a few but...

once agian great job

Wow that thought must've done some good! Those numbers are absolutly incredible. I think you should call up some of the tour pros that had a less than bad round this week. Really great round. Cheers

Yeah great numbers but I wasn't playing TPC on Sunday with greens that were turning brown from being triple cut and rough so deep that even John Daly couldn't hack out of it.

The track I played was 6,400 from the blues. Rated at 70 and Slope of 126.

SO???? Did you take 68 shot's or not? NEVER apologize for a GREAT round......

Lil' story......I shot 65 one time on an easy course in E. Texas in a Pro-Am when I was still an amateur and clipped the "low pro" by 5.......walked into the grill at the club I grew up playing.....my father was sitting there playing gin with some buddies and asked me how I played......of course I was BUSTIN' to tell him........so I did.......and one of the ole' smartasses said....."awww, thats no big deal as thats an easy course"........before I could say a thing (and I'd just probably have agreed and gone on about my business) my dad said, "first of all 65 IS SIXTY-FIVE.......and, just EXACTLY how many times have YOU shot 65 on ANY course?".........(end of conversation......hehehehe)

SO portz.....NEVER apologize for a great round.......(don't boast too much either as the golf god's will seek revenge if you do.....:))

You're right...I guess it's part of that "learn to give and receive compliments gracefully" line I heard as a kid.

I'm very proud of that round....especially because I set out with a gameplan and stuck to it. I used to swing as hard as I could and was known as one of the longer (not the longest) hitters at my club. Of course I was long left and long right but rarely long middle. After working hard to tighten up my swing this winter I've cut my driver down an inch, tightened up my swing and now average around 270 instead of 285....but now it's 270 in the fairway 80% of the time instead of in the rough.

At first it was tough hearing people say, "what happened man, you used to be really long?" and of course my reply is that I've learned to control my swing and place a premium on accuracy over length but most people, weekend warriors anyways, don't get that...they just look at me wierd...but oh well, they can outdrive me all day long and I'll be in their pockets after every round. :)

I used to be the ultimate Grinder but these days it's just fairways and greens for me! :tongue:
